It can be very difficult to decide if your baby or child needs to see a GP. Children can seem unwell and then recover quickly or they can become unwell suddenly. It can be scary and worrying.
Where appropriate we always try to give babies and young people on the day appointments if they are unwell.
If you are unsure if your child needs to be seen, you can always contact the practice nurse or GP for advice.
Throughout childhood, children are offered vaccines to protect them from potentially serious diseases. Here, the baby’s first immunisations are given by the GP and the remainder are given by the practice nurse. The practice nurse will arrange the child’s appointments and liaise with parents.
